This is a reproduction of the Cave Hyena found in Chauvet Cave, France (c. 30,000 BCE). The canvas is dry brushed bamboo papier-mâché and sediment, mixed with acrylic gray and golden yellow paint; giving it a limestone appearance. The textured canvas is accented with black, white, brown, and red. The hyena is hand painted with acyclic red ochre.
